About us

My name is Ryan Mahoney, president of Putt it Forward. On August 5th, 2018 my world was rocked when I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Unexpectedly I was faced with a health crisis that carried a massive financial burden. If it weren't for my community coming together with an outpouring of fundraising efforts, my family never would have made it finanically.

Through these efforts I was able to focus solely on my recovery.  On January 4th 2019, 5 months after my diagnosis, I was able to receive a Bone Marrow Donation at Hackensack Meridian Hospital. My journey was a special one as my donor was my brother and Vice President of Putt it Forward, Louis. Through the recovery Louis pushed me to work on my health and wellness trying to get me out and about. It was at this time he encouraged me to get back into golf as it was a safe way to be socially distant with a compromised immune system, but still a great way of getting active!

After playing in a local golf outing for another great fundraising effort, the idea of Putt it Foward was conceived (albeit with many arguments over the name) and it is now time to give back in ten fold what we received. We want to help as many families as possible to focus on the importance of health and longevity without the distraction of financial burden. So you could say we want families to be able to take their loved ones and above all else "putt" it forward.
